Founded in the year 1976 by Stan Shih, Acer is a Taiwanese multinational company focused on manufacturing hardware and electronics. It has its headquarters located in Xizhi, in New Taipei, Taiwan. The company serves globally and has four subsidiaries. While it is most popular for its computer devices manufacturing, Acer has also successfully become a contender in the mobile market, ever since it made the first official release of its first smartphone.
The company has so far released smartphones powered both by Android operating system from Google as well as Windows operating system from Microsoft.
The first Windows smartphone series manufactured by Acer was the Acer Tempo, which had a list of four different models and was launched in the year 2009. The first one to be launched among these four was the Acer Tempo X960.
This was then followed by the launch of Acer tablets series: The Acer Iconia in the year 2010, which was followed by the launch of another Windows Phone powered Acer device: The Acer Allegro.
Then the company launched the Acer Cloud Mobile which was announced in the month of February in 2012, and went on to have a September release the same year. The phone came powered by Android OS, Ice cream sandwich version, from Google and was run by a Krait dual core processor, with an internal inbuilt memory of 8GB.
