A fully owned subsidiary of the popular American multinational technology company Microsoft, Microsoft Mobile was founded in the year 2014 and has its headquarters in Espoo, in the country of Finland. The company was formed right after the former mobile technology giant Nokia, went through an acquisition by Microsoft in the year 2014 itself. And hence, at present, Microsoft Mobile is an active legal body that supervises the design, development, manufacture, and distribution of a list of telecommunications products like mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, etc.
Right after the acquisition of Nokia, Microsoft Mobile went on to sell future Nokia phones under the Nokia brand name itself, however, in the year 2014, it was announced that all future Nokia Lumia cell phones would be sold under the Microsoft brand name. This was however changed in 2016, when the remaining Nokia feature phones business was sold off to FIH Mobile and HMD Global, meaning that the name Lumia would remain intact.
The active mobile handsets under the reign of Microsoft Mobile include device models like Lumia 950, Lumia 550, Lumia 950 XL, all of which are powered by the latest Windows 10.
