Founded in the year 1928, Motorola used to be a popular American multinational company with its headquarters in Illinois, USA, and was focused on telecommunications. However, in between 2007 and 2009, citing a loss of $4.3 billion, the company went on to have a two-way division: Motorola Solutions and Motorola Mobility in the year 2011. While the first happens to be the direct successor of the original Motorola, the second, that is Motorola Mobility was first acquired by Google in its founding year 2011 itself, but later was acquired by another popular Chinese telecommunications giant, Lenovo, in the year 2014.
Thus, as on now, Motorola is a Chinese-American company focused on producing consumer electronics and telecommunications, with its headquarters in Chicago, USA. It is popular currently for making high-end as well as mid-range and budget-friendly smartphones, all powered by Android OS from Google.
Some of the most popular handsets from Motorola in recent times include Moto X Play, Moto G Plus, Moto X Pro, etc. Moto was also in sync with Google for the popular Nexus 6 in 2014. In 2016, Moto introduced the Moto Z, calling it the ‘’thinnest premium smartphone’’ in the whole world.
