Founded in the year 1946, Sony is a world renowned Japanese multinational company, which is focused on designing, developing, and manufacturing electronics, entertainment, gaming, as well as financial service products. It has its headquarters in Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Its multinational telecommunication division, Sony mobiles, was founded in the year 2001, and was initially a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson, which was headquartered in Tokyo. The mobile devices thus produced under this banner went on to have nits brand name as Sony Ericsson.
However, in the year 2012, Sony acquired all of Ericsson’s shares in the joint venture, and hence, all smartphones produced since then by the company went on to have the flagship name Sony Xperia and the current flagship continues to be Sony Xperia XZ.
All these phones are powered by the Android OS from Google, and the current USP showcase a water and dust resistant feature in these smartphones. The Sony Xperia XZ series thus went on to become a huge success and by the end of the year 2015, the company had announced the highest per-handset-profit among all other Android powered handsets in the market and reportedly also had the highest average selling price among its contenders.
