In medical definition, ovarian cysts are small sacs filled with fluid that reside on the surface of a woman’s one or both ovaries. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that majority of the women in the premenstrual stage have these cysts at some point of their lives, while above 14.8% of women have them after their postmenstrual stage.

Fundamentally, most of these cysts are gentle in nature and not a part of any disease as they naturally occur during a woman’s menstrual cycle, and don’t have any cause per se. However, it is the pathological cysts in the ovary that one must look out for since they can be both gentle and cancerous!

The reason why majority of women can’t spot ovarian cysts is the fact that they normally don’t bother the person much, not showing much symptoms. However, in some cases, symptoms can be prominent, some of which include, bloating in the abdomen, irregular periods, painful sex, nausea, vomiting, pain in the thighs and lower back, etc.

Here are some home remedies that can help relieve these symptoms and also reduce the size of the cysts in the ovary—

  1. Heat

Heat is a natural pain reliever when it comes to dealing with abdominal pain and muscle cramps. So, whenever you feel any pain in the abdomen or lower back and thighs, place a hot water bag or heating pad in that spot for 15 seconds, and repeat till you feel some relief.

  1. A castor oil pack

Castor oil is known as an ancient healing agent for many things, and when it comes to dealing with ovarian cysts, it has been associated since ages. The oil is actually capable of removing certain toxins and extra tissues, also stimulating various circulating systems in the body alongside the lymphatic system, thus helping in dissolving the issue, by dissolving those cysts!

  1. An Epsom Salt Bath

Epsom Salt is known for its healing contents and so it helps to a great extent when it comes to reducing pains due to ovarian cysts. It contains high amount of magnesium sulfate and hence, helps in relieving your pain by relaxing your muscles.

  1. Chamomile Tea

Herbal teas are always popular for their healing powers and Chamomile Tea is one such herbal tea that helps reduce the symptoms of ovarian cysts and helps you feel relaxed, thanks to its sedative nature. It also helps in easing out your irregular periods, as it helps stimulate blood flow in your uterus and pelvic region.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar has high potassium content and helps in dissolving your ovarian cysts. All you need to do is make a solution by adding 1 tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar to a glass of warm water with 1 tablespoon of black strap molasses. Drink 1-2 glasses daily and you are good to go!

  1. Beetroot

Beetroot is a power packed veggie that helps your liver chalk out toxins from your body, as it contains the magical content called Betacyanin. You can add beetroot juice to your everyday beverages and see your painful symptoms reduce gradually.
